Cameras 4 Urban School Photo Class

My name is Mrs. Par and I will be teaching art for the first time this year at my school in Hartford, CT. My school is depending on me to spearhead the creation of the entire high school art program including the creation of a brand new curriculum. We are a social justice themed school that works hard to raise awareness and fight the social injustices that exist in our world so that the future can be brighter. I am raising money for cameras so that my students can study photography on real cameras with real settings. The students have expressed interest in learning photography but our school does not have any cameras for them to learn on. Our school does not have any resources so I am depending on you to be a part of starting this amazing high school photography program. The money will be used to purchase 10 used Canon Rebel camera bodies and lenses (from Ebay).   This would mean so much to the students. They seek ways to effectively express themselves and are drawn to photography. I am very passionate about this project because it was in high school photography class that my own life was transformed and I went on to spend my life as not only an art educator, but also as a professional photographer. Photography has been a safe form of self- expression and I would love to be able to give that to my students as well. Any additional funds collected will be used to purchase memory cards, camera equipment, photo supplies, and more cameras & lenses.

We would also be grateful to anyone who would like to donate photography gear/equipment that they may already have and do not need or use anymore. We do not have a darkroom so please, no film based cameras or materials. Tripods, backdrops, lighting, etc are all welcome!
