Camille's Wellness Centre

Donation protected
In July 2015, a group of young women lost a close friend to suicide. Camille Strickland-Murphy was not only a creative and brilliant mind, caring friend to many, daughter, twin sister, artist and athlete - she was also an individual who battled addiction and mental illness for many years before taking her own life.

This Christmas, Camille's large group of friends used their annual Secret Santa to commemorate her life and her legacy, which was to live a fit and active lifestyle. Instead of buying presents for each other, the group decided to use that money to buy exercise equipment for the Clarenville Women's Correctional Centre where Camille had served some time. Their goal was to buy and donate enough equipment to create a gym there: Camille's Wellness Centre. Just under a thousand dollars were raised, enough to buy a treadmill, sports balls and an exercise bike.

Although this is fantastic start, the girls hope to accumulate enough funds for some extra equipment such as another treadmill, bike, free weights and benches. This page has been set up for anyone who has heard Camille’s story and would like to help build something in her name.

All funds collected from this page will go directly to buying equipment for the Clarenville Women’s Correctional Centre so that those who spend time there can live healthily and productively. Please know that your donations will not only directly provide women at the Centre with a better quality of life, they will allow the memory of Camille, and her legacy, to live on.
