Support Carla's Cancer Treatment

Carla Furtaw has been battling ovarian cancer since the age of twenty six and has now lived longer with cancer than cancer free. Carla is a wife to Steve, a mother to Brad and Baylee, daughter, sister, auntie, friend and registered nurse to countless numbers of new moms and their babies. While Carla has been living with cancer  she's been receiving many different treatments. During that time Carla has raised a family, always worked to support her children, most of that on the night shift and went back to college and earned a nursing degree. Carla's faith, grace and determination have guided her through this extraordinary journey, and now we, as a community of family and friends, need to support Carla and her family in this next chapter on that journey.

Carla's cancer has grown and she has a painful tumor that hasn't responded to chemotherapy. She's endured surgeries and hospitalizations and now has taken a leave of absence from work for the very first time during her battle with cancer.

Carla must have several months of daily radiation to hopefully shrink the tumor and alleviate her pain. Carla will be receiving this treatment in Florida which will cause her to be away from her family for an extended period of time, not to mention the financial hardship of receiving care out of state. She is very fortunate to have a friend that lives in Florida willing to take a leave from her job to transport and care for Carla while she's receiving treatment.

It is the goal of this campaign to raise funds to defray Carla's medical expenses but to also provide the means for her family to visit her in Florida during the radiation treatments. Carla has a wish to take her family to Disney World for Christmas while she's feeling well enough to do so.
