Christina's Cancer Fight
Many of us are affected by Cancer whether directly or indirectly. I myself lost my sister to breast cancer three years ago after she lost her eighteen month battle. Now my very dear friend is facing that same battle. Cancer unfolds in a personal story for each person that experiences it.
This is Christina’s story….
Christina Ramos is an amazing 49 year old woman who is self-employed and raising a 13 year old daughter named Charlotte.
I met Christina about 5 years ago at our neighborhood elementary school. She had vision and energy like no one else I have ever met. She worked tirelessly to raise money to help fund programs for the students.
Christina’s took that creative energy and passion for vintage and decorating and turn it into a business. In 2013 she opened The Blue Vignette a vintage and home décor store in Roseville. She worked hard and followed her dream and became a successful part of Roseville's community. Christina attributes the popularity of her shop to the wonderful support of her friends and the Roseville community, plus a pure passion for what she does.
As a small business owner, insurance can sometimes be very costly and almost unobtainable. Finally being able to afford insurance, she knew it would be wise to have physical and long overdue mammogram. In January of 2015 Christina was diagnosed with pneumonia and breast cancer. Her doctors did not anticipate it to be aggressive or invasive and she could be back to her shop within six weeks. Just days after her mastectomy, she received the news… it had spread to her lymph nodes and a second surgery would be needed to remove them. She would now need to plan on at least 5 months of chemotherapy and medications.
The reality for Christina is that she will not be able to get back to work as soon as she wants. Although she has wonderful friends that volunteer to work at the shop, her income has declined with her absence. Even with insurance, her medical and other bills are adding up. As a single mom and business owner, these pressures are intense and are taking a toll on her and her daughter.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to support Christina and Charlotte and keep Christina’s business up and running in her absence. I would like to ask for your kind donations to help Christina so she may focus on the most important battle…beating her cancer to have a life with her daughter.
Thank you in advance support!
