Comfort Crates for SJS Awareness
Hello,
My name is Sarah MacFarlane and I am 22 years old and completing my Masters of Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University. In March of 2016 I was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and spent 19 days in hospital. SJS is a rare adverse drug reaction, and you can visit sjssupport.org for more information. The issue with SJS is that due to its rare nature, it is not something that is known or talked about within many communities. I am hoping to increase awareness and raise money towards a cause close to my heart.
There is no direct way to give money to SJS specifically, so I am hoping to effect the lives of many families with their children in hospital. 100% of the money raised from the Chatham BBQ fundraiser and online donations will go towards the creation of Comfort Crates. These Comfort Crates will be delivered to a variety of caregivers and patients in London Children's Hospital. Little comforts can help both individuals focus on the healing process.
Money raised will buy the following supplies:
Caregiver Crates: Hand lotion, deck of cards, chapstick, journals, puzzle books, fuzzy socks, dry shampoo
Patient Crates: Small toys & stuffed animals, colouring book, pencil crayons, books, stickers, play dough
ANY donations will be welcomed, and I thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart for your support.
Please feel free to futher educate yourselves on SJS and create a positive conversation within your community.
Sarah MacFarlane
