Ultra-Endurance cycling is expensive, and I need help to make it to Australia for the 2018 edition of the Indian Pacific Wheel Race: a solo, single-stage, unsupported, 5500km road cycling race which starts at the Indian Ocean near Perth and will finish at the Pacific Ocean in Sydney, on the steps of the Opera House.

I've been able to self fund (or debt finance) my first three ultras, all of which I have finished: Steens Mazama 1000, July 2016, in 7d 23h 25m; The Race on Route 66, October 2016, in 21d 16h 30m*; and the TransAm Bike Race, June 2017, in 31d 23h 49m. There is nothing financially responsible about me wanting to do this race, but somehow that hasn't been enough to talk myself out of it.

I'm fairly morally conflicted about asking for money to fuck off from work, responsibility, and normal life in general to go ride my bike for a while, and I'm loath to wax poetic about non-commercially-supported amateur athletics or whatever.

Racing tends to end up costing about $1 a mile, mostly for food and the occasional bed / shower. This race, in addition, will require travel to and from a different continent for my bike and I.

I'm never going to ask people in person for donations, and I'm preemptively humbled at any that are made. Thank you for reading this far, and for your support- be it monetary or otherwise.

Cheers,

-dbr
