Give Hope to Dominican Republic

Love Baseball? Love making a difference in the lives of impoverished youth? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO HELP!
During June & July of 2018, seventeen high school baseball players from Marin County & 8 high school baseball players/families from Sonoma County will travel to the Dominican Republic for a week of baseball, cultural immersion and community service.
One of the highlights of this experience involves conducting community service with former MLB pitcher Pedro Liriano and his youth baseball program: “Players of the Future”.
“Players of the Future” provides free baseball coaching, games, equipment, school mentoring, clothing & other resources to over 50 youth baseball players ages 6-12 years old.
100% of the youth who participate in “Players of the Future” live below the extreme poverty line in La Piedra, Dominican Republic where families have no access to running water, indoor plumbing and reliable electricity.
Without “Players of the Future”, these youth would be unable to access resources that bring them hope, positive role models and a sense of community.
We’d love your help in raising $2,500 so that we can assist “Players of the Future” in June with the following:
1. Provide all families in La Piedra with a “Give Back Box” containing shoes, clothing, school supplies & food.
2. Bring enough donated equipment to ensure that every player in the league is equipped with safe and proper baseball equipment. As word travels to nearby communities, the number of youth participating in the “Players of the Future” baseball program is growing rapidly and basic safety equipment like helmets, catchers masks, etc. are in high demand. In order to ensure that all equipment arrives safely in the Dominican Republic, our chaperones and ball players will be packing large duffel bags of used equipment and bringing these bags on our flight. Due to the high cost of check-in baggage fees, funds raised will be put towards offsetting those fees.
3. Should we be fortunate enough to surpass our goal, all additional funds raised will be put towards our beautification project where we will assist in renovating a local school or home.
Thank you so much for helping the youth & families of La Piedra, Dominican Republic where baseball is truly more than a game!
With the utmost appreciation,
Coach Franco
