Howard or Hopeless Fund

My name is De'Juae Leathers and I am a passionate, hardworking, dedicated, and outgoing junior Political Science and Africana Studies double major from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The place where The Gap Band got their funk and the Black Wall Street prevailed until 1921.

My last 2 years as a Howard University student have been full of surprises. Good and Bad. I acquired various internships, positions in campus organizations as well as outside organizations. I was also able to continue my work as an independent contractor in the field of technology while working an overnight job in D.C.

Unfortunately, my hard work and dedication did not completely pay off as I fell short in my planning for emergency expenses and rising tuition and fees. I was not able to keep up with my payments as an independent student and sustain life in the expensive city of D.C.

I have created this campaign to help cover my tuition as well as living expenses outside of school.

I have never let those who believed in me down. The goals I set as a 10 year old girl in the Oklahoma foster care system have all come to fruition as I pushed through all the punches life has threw at me.
