Dotty (pictured above) is a hairless guinea pig (called a skinny pig). While Japan does have hairless guinea pigs, a large percentage of their skinny guinea pigs (スキニーギニアピッグ) are extra hairy. This would be called "werewolf" in the US or Europe.

Santa Barbara Skinny Pigs has been breeding skinny pigs with very little hair for several years and has recently teamed up with Skinny Guinea Pig Garden in Kagawa Japan in an effort to improve the quality of hairless guinea pigs there!

Dotty, and a dozen of her friends, are getting ready to fly from Los Angeles to Osaka and need your help. One of the reasons Japan has such hairy hairless guinea pigs is that it's so expensive to import new breeding stock from Europe or the United States. Dotty and her crew's air transportation costs are expected to be upwards of $1,500. I'm purchasing (and pimping out) a specialty transport crate for their flying comfort and finally they'll need a veterinary inspection/health certificates and paperwork from the USDA approving them to fly!
And of course the Uber ride to the airport. (j/k they ride with me) ;)

I'm hoping to have them in the air by Christmas, 2016. We are so thankful for your donations! We're also putting out a limited edition 2017 Skinny Pig calendar and selling special Cavy Cozies made with absolutely stunning fabrics imported directly from Japan. Proceeds from the sales of these things will all go to funding Dotty's flight!
