Heritage Carriage Fund
Donation protected
To all interested parties
Us at The Eskbank Locomotive Depot and Museum have acquired 7 heritage ex NSWGR passenger carriages for operation by Lithgow State Mine Railway, we have opened an appeal to raise funds so we can complete the purchase of these cars, and raise restoration funding for them. Unfortunately, we need to raise some additional capital at this time to help secure and prepare the cars for travel out of their current home of the Hunter Valley Railway Trust at Rothbury.
We thought this might be an opportune time to remind you that the end of the financial year is just a couple of weeks away and that all donations over $2 are tax deductible. So, if you would like to reduce your tax liability we would certainly appreciate your donation more than the tax office and your funds would be going to a very good cause. Those heritage carriages need to be removed from their current location as soon as possible, lest they succumb to the scrapper. The carriages will eventually form our 1920’s mainline running set when they are restored to operational service.
The carriages acquired include the following:
PHS 2298: 1950s built RUB power van, for use as a crew car and rolling workshop on long distance trips
EVD 1513: A 12w carriage rebuilt for the 1970 Captain Cook exhibition train as a mobile museum display car
FZ 507: A former KAM sleeping car rebuilt into a mobile classroom during the 1970s. This car would undergo a transformation into a multi-feature car
MFE 1855: A 1929 built second class sitting car
MFE 1858: Identical to MFE 1855
MAL 810: A 1954 converted 12w sleeping car
MCA 126: A 12w sitting car fitted with a generator and operated as part of the Orange Day Train
Apart from a donation people who are interested in getting involved in restoration work on these magnificent cars are also encouraged to come along to our working bees held every Saturday at our Workshop facilities. Instructions on how to donate funds to the appeal are listed below. Thank you and best regards to all.
