Elland Silver Youth Band (ESYB) is part of the Elland Silver Band organisation - one of the largest Brass Band organisations in the country, made up of 5 ensembles and over 100 playing members ranging from absolute beginners to semi-professionals (Registered Charity No. 1112614).
Made up of over 40 players between the ages of 11 and 18, ESYB has an amazing track record of competing and winning competitions at the highest level. Multiple AMR Youth Entertainment Champions of Great Britain and Intermediate National Youth Brass Band Champions, in 2016 ESYB were invited to compete in the European Youth Brass Band Championships in Lille, placing second in the Development (under 18s) Section.
Returning in 2017 to the Championships in Ostend, ESYB became European Development Section Youth Brass Band Champions.
In May 2018, ESYB will be defending their title in Utrecht, Netherlands.
These achievements come through dedication, teamwork, talent and a lot of hard work by all involved! Along the way, the young people gain valuable life skills and make friends for life. The character that playing at this level builds is a genuine help as they move into higher education and employment.
The band relies on donations from friends, family and local businesses and charitable organisations to fund these trips, which can cost over £20,000 each year. Please help us to get ESYB to Utrecht in 2018 by donating. Your donation will be put towards the costs of travel and accommodation for the band members and officials, a team of volunteer chaperones, and of course more than 40 brass and percussion instruments!
