Connect and Elevate- Haiti Sports

Donation protected
My name is Pascale Delaunay, as an athlete and an engineer from Haiti I have experienced firsthand the transformative power that sports and technology can provide to people, especially the youth. On my journey preparing for the Rio Olympics Games as a Haitian athlete I saw how much help is needed for the youth of Haiti. In order to provide that help I need financial assistance to execute my vision.  I have already secured $8000 of the $15,000  required to put on this clinic. Travel, lodging for the staff and volunteers as well as transporation and food for 150 local atheletes as well as 25 coaches is covered. Left to go is the funds to purchase equipment, laptops and tablets to be donated to the facilities.  This is where I need your help I think witth $10-20 per person we will surely surpass the $7000 left and be able to provide more laptops and tablets than originally budgeted.

Finding a way to combine both my passion for sports and technology is how the concept of sports clinics came about. I felt an easy way for me to help was to leverage what I already had available to me. In speaking with track and field federation in Haiti they stressed the lack of capable coaches in more technical events of track and field. We decided to host a 2 day of clinic for coaches and athletes with a competition day at the end.
The sports clinics are intended for the novice to the advanced athletes and coaches who want to focus on the horizontal jumps, sprints, hurdles and middles distance events of Track and Field. The clinics are designed to provide a solid foundations for the coaches on the principals of developing athletes in their events. As well as provide the athletes an opportunity to get event specific technical hands-on training from some of the bests. A major part of the clinic is to leverage video technology for analysis. The video recording can also help provide consultative coaching help of high potential athletes from other elite coaches located anywhere in the world. This is why we are in need of video cameras and laptops and/or tablets with cameras for recording. We are providing transportation and food for clinic participants.

All over Haiti there are children with boundless capabilities unaware of what lies within. Their formidable years are passing them by without the stimulus and structure to cultivate it. They will never learn the hidden lessons to be gained from participating in sports. We now have a National Olympic Training Center in Haiti.  I want to help provide the structure and opportunity to harness that untapped energy with sports clinics. I truly believe with the proper foundation Haitian athletes can compete successfully on the global stage much like neighboring Caribbean countries like Jamaica, Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago have enjoyed. Our goal is to leverage the Olympic Training Center as a catalyst for home grown atheletes to realize their full potential.

We are fortunate to have secured the services of an elite training staff consisting of former USA Olympics Coach, Olympians and Olympic medalist to assist in training the local coaches in Haiti who will attend the clinic. Since we will not be in Haiti with the athlete’s after the clinic it is paramount to provide the local coaches with the tools and skills necessary to put together a proper training program for the athletes to ensure long term success.  Part of the ongoing clinic benefit is to have quarterly check-ins with coaches who attend the clinic on their progress and challenges they are facing in developing their athletes. We will also check in on the athlete’s progress by reviewing competition results and footage of their performances.  We also plan on donating 4 computers as part of clinic for performance analysis but most importantly for use as a computer lab. The computer lab can be used for homework help, supplemental education, video chat sessions and numerous other uses for the athletes who attended the clinic.

I hope to continue to put on as many clinics yearly as funding will allow, with the long term goal of being able to hold a yearly competition between the athletes of the different regions which we have put on clinics. I believe that sports is a strong glue that can link all of us together. I truly believe that these clinics although relatively small can help spark the next generation of Haitian athletes to major success.
My Goal to Connect to the best resources available and Elevate each athlte higher than and farther than they ever thought possible.
