Rare Everglades mink project

This is the Everglades mink, or Neovison vison evergladensis.  It is protected as a State-designated threatened species, and is believed to be the rarest mammal in Florida-rarer than the Florida panther.  While the panther's numbers may be around 130, the number of Everglades mink may be less than 50.  

There is very little known about the Everglades mink. They are occasionally seen in the dry season when water levels drop and its food source, normally small fish and crawfish, is concentrated in small pools of water.   But in the wet season, they are almost never seen, except when they are running across the road.
  
And their numbers are in jeopardy.  They are threatened by human development, disturbance and changes in drainage, as well as by natural predators like hawks, owls, and alligators.


I have helped document their behavior for the state of Florida at Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park, for the past two years, but need more cameras to gain a deeper insight into their elusiveness.

I need your help!  I am hoping to raise money to buy several trail cameras and accessories to help study and document the Everglades mink.

The funds donated would go to:

>buying trail cameras, at $300. each,
>batteries & memory cards,
>gas to check on cameras.
