Fairfield Police Dept. K-9 Program
Donation protected
The Fairfield Police K-9 Unit:
The K-9 Unit does not replace a police officer but serves as a valuable tool in combating and deterring crime. Often the mere presence of a police dog allows an arrest to be achieved peacefully and may keep a police officer out of harm's way. Also, the police canine is frequently the determining factor in conducting a search for a missing child or one of our beloved seniors who may have wandered from their residences.
In addition to these vital duties, the K-9 Unit is also used to search buildings, track suspects, search for evidence, apprehend criminals, assist with narcotic raids, and more. Further, the canines are of great importance while enforcing motor vehicle laws and assisting with control for violent and/or unruly crowds.
The value of such animals as partners in our police department and for our community cannot be measured.
Our Canines:
Recently, our two police dogs (Jagger and Maverick) completed their training and are out patrolling our neighborhoods. They are serving not only the residents of Fairfield, but through mutual aid agreements, assisting other Connecticut communities.

The Fairfield Police Department K-9 Unit is entirely funded by corporate and private donations from the community.
