Faith Christian Orphanage Uganda

Hello! My name is Pastor Christian Watts and I am working to raise funds for an Faith Christian Orphanage in Mityana Uganda. (See pictures at the end of this text)
I was first made aware of the need of Faith Christian Orphanage several months ago. Of course my first and greatest question was, "Is this legit?". That questioned was answered with a resounding "YES" through a Pastor friend of mine named Robert Mabonga of Kampala Uganda. Robert went to Mityana on my behalf and visited the orphanage and the volunteer staff who work to keep it afloat. He prepared a written report for me and took pictures of the children and buildings which helped me to not only better understand the need but visualize the need. Robert is serving as the "feet on the ground" for the orphanage and brings to it the needed skills of administration, implanentation, and financial oversight. About 5% of the monies that come in via this fundraiser will go to help Robert as he continues to be provide support and oversight.
It is my hope that my wife and I will travel to Uganada in early 2017 to be able to observe the need and develop a more concrete, long term plan of seeing this ministry flurish!
Because of fees and taxes, the very best thing we can do is to raise funds and send money to Uganda rather than sending material goods such as food or school supplies. It also helps the local economy when goods and materials are able to be purchased in the local area.
The best way for the Orphanage to receive funds is via Western Union. I plan to send money raised through this effort twice a month. I will post pictures and/or updates each time I send funds so that those who contribute to this effort can see that the money (minus the gofundme fees and the Western Union fees) goes where I am saying it will go.
Below is some basic information regarding the orphanage your funds are going to. Besides raising the funds I am currently working to send a camera and and a computer to both Ernest and Robert.
Faith Christian orphanage is a not for profit making organization, CBO/NGO, based in Naama village, Naama parish Busimbi Sub-county in Mityana District, Kampala Uganda. It’s about 70km west south of Kampala City, Uganda. There are currently some 60 children who live at the orphanage.
The organization was initiated by disadvantaged Christians and marginalized rural poor members of Naama village in Naama parish, Busimbi sub county in 2014 to redress the prevailing effects of the disadvantaged children (orphans) who do not have adequate food, shelter, clothing, bedding materials, school fees, scholastic materials, and/or any of the basic things a child might need.
Due to the abundant population in this area, many people die each year due to a lack of clean water, available health clinics, and abundant poverty. Another leading cause of death is HIV/AIDS which has taken the lives of many of the childrens fathers and mothers. Treatment for disease is simply unavailable to those who lack adequte funding. As a result, many children are left fatherless and motherless. The result is an abundance of orphaned children.
Hopeful Outcomes as Money is Raised...
· Improved social status of orphaned children.
· Purchase of land and to construct perment home
and a school for the orphanege children.
· To support the basic education of orphans and other
vulnerable children.
· To develop a good working relationship with similar
associations as well as government and non-
governmental organizations.
· To create awareness to the community and the
outside world the need of the project and support
the disadvantaged and marginalized orphaned
children.
· Supply scholastic materials to the children.
· Supply school uniforms to the children.
· To purchase beds, shoes, blankets, bedsheets.
· Provide adequte shelter for children to sleep in.
· Provide nutricious food for the children
· Recruit staff members.
· Purchase office equipment.
· Purchase motorized transport to assist during home
visits and evaluation.
· Kick start income generating activities (very
important so that the orphanage becomes self-
sustaining.
· To purchase land for food programss
· Construct water tanks at the orphanage.
Issues that need Addressed...
· There is currently no income generating activity
because funds are lacking.
· No training is being conducted for potential
guardians of the orphaned children
· The facility has no transporation. (bicycle or
motorized).
Structures: The organization has no building of its own. It rents the school premises, a small orphanege home, and an office. The office lacks furniture and basic equipment such as computers and office equipment.
Faith Christian Orphanage is being operated under the direction of 25 year old Kiwuuwa Ernest who is not maried and who has no children. There are ten volunteers who work with Kiwuuwa. Kiwuuwa Ernest is the only person who stays at the Orphanage 24/7.
Note of Interest... It is typical in many African nations to call someone by their last name rather than by their first name.
