Fox Wood Wildlife Rescue

Donation protected
Elise Able the president and founder of Fox Wood  Wildlife Rescue, Inc. has had a life long passion for helping injured, sick and  orphaned animals. First volunteering for other rescues, Elise formed Fox Wood Wildlife Rescue, Inc a 501 (c)3  non-profit Wildlife Rehabilitation and Dog Rescue in 1993.  While we are primarily known across the country for our work with foxes, we are also well known for our work with injured  coyotes, weasels, mink, bobcats, and shy, often abandoned  dogs.

Fox Wood Wildlife Rescue, Inc is different from  many other non-profits. First and foremost, there are no paid employees. Every dollar donated goes directly toward saving and supporting the animals brought here. Elise has always worked a full time job plus a part time job to support herself and her work for the animals- always pulling a tremendous amount of money out of her own pocket to pay the bills herself when money was short. No salary or reimbursement for out of pocket expenses are ever  drawn from donations.  Recently , Elise has lost her main source of income due to a spine injury.  Donations are needed now more than ever.

One thing Fox Wood will not do is exploit animals to  raise funds. Our sanctuary is strictly for the comfort and rehabilitation of the animals.  You won't see our animals at malls, festivals, fairs, or other public events because we belive this is uncomfortable, stressful and exploitive for the wildlife who are shy and secretive by nature.  Our animals are not put on display for the public here either. Sure, we probably miss out on donations, but we believe our animals  deserve the  privacy and comfort of their homes here.  Our public presentations are done with Powerpoints using many photos taken here by us.   Fox Wood always  puts the animals FIRST.

Please help us continue helping the animals who need our help. .  We are out there doing hard work. Animals don't have health insurance, and we are not funded by the state, the federal government or by grants. Our ability to solicit donations is limited because of our high integrity when it comes to the comfort and care of  the animals here.   Now, we are severely limited because of the loss of Elise's income, and her inability to pull money out of her own pocket. Please check out our website http://foxwoodrehab.typepad.com/
and our Facebook page for some stories and pictures so you can see what we do. Please share this and give what you can.  Every amount, no matter how small helps an injured  wild animal get the quality care it deserves  or an abandoned dog get the love and care it needs.

Red Fox pup hit by a car recovering

This is a 16 yr old dog !!! See Below... after she is rescued and shaved and is now being lovingly cared for forever at Fox Wood

This is Little Helen, who is now over 17 years old. See her photo above this one, when she was rescued.

This poor coyote has Sarcoptic mange.  We are caring for and medicating her until she can be released safely.

This poor was orphaned when her mother was shot by someone who thought that red foxes were nocturnal and shouldn't be out during the day.
This baby Gray fox lost one of her limbs. she is now a permanent resident at Fox Wood.
This Red fox pup was orphaned because her mother was hit by a car. She was raised and released back to the wild.

A dog that was purposfully abandoned in the middle of an unpopulated area finally gets help when Fox wood is called.

A trap is set by expert dog trapper Elise Able, and this dog is caught within hours and transported immediately to a groomer, then taken to a veterinarian.

Then this little dog is taken into Fox Wood President Elise Able's home and loved.

^^^ What a difference!
This dog was placed in a loving home
BUT!!! Elise's job is not done!  through the process of catching and helping THIS dog, Elise learns of ANOTHER abandoned dog in desperate need! The next morning, another abandoned dog is captured quickly....
This little guy, who weighs just over 5 lbs was fighing for his life after being abandoned on a country farm road and left to die.

In short order, this dog is bathed, groomed and sees the veterinarian.  A day later, he is living the dream....
There are so many dogs abandoned on the country roads, why? Someone wiould love them. they don't need to die!
Please help us help them!
