First of all, I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to read this and show your support. It means more to us than you will know.

On November 6th, 2017 my husband Ramon was working for the Commerce City Walmart at 5990 Dahlia street. He was working as an Asset Protection Associate. His job was to protect the assets and prevent theft/shrink. On this day at roughly 10:30 AM, 21-year-old Juan Izalbe grabbed a screwdriver and a hammer off of the shelves of that Walmart. He then began to pry open registers and burglarize the store.

Other associates called my husband Ramon and let him know what was going on. He began watching Juan on the security cameras. He called Commerce City Police Department and started to describe to them what was happening. Ramon approached Juan and tried to open palm redirect him (which is complainant with Walmart policy AP-09 and how he was trained to subdue suspects) to the office to await police. Just 3 seconds after approaching the suspect, Juan sucker punched Ramon right in the face.

Ramon, immediately went into protective mode and took Juan to the ground and restrained him to protect not only himself but the others around him as well. Keep in mind he is doing all of this while blood is gushing from his eye.

While he had Juan on the ground he continued to scream "I'm schizophrenic! I don't know what I'm gonna do!" When Ramon heard this he immediately thought about the triple homicide at the Thornton Walmart that was only 7 miles away from their store, just a few days earlier. Juan is 180lbs. Ramon is 250lbs. If Juan was willing to attack someone almost twice his size what would have stopped him from attacking someone else in the store? Ramon didn't know if he had a gun on him or not, and even if he didn't he obviously was already using the screwdriver as a weapon. He knew it was his responsibility to secure this man to insure the safety of not only himself but others around him.

Once police came and took Juan away in handcuffs and Ramon was rushed to the ER by ambulance, where he received 3 stitches in his left eyebrow and had to have his left eyelid glued back together. He also had a pretty nasty scratch on the back of his right arm where Juan had actually tried to stab him with the screwdriver that he had been using to burglarize the store with. Luckily it missed him just enough to not penetrate his skin and cause more damage.

He missed the next 3 days of work and his eye was swollen shut and purple. He found it very hard to sleep with the pain of the stitches, and could not even drive himself to his own doctor's appointments because his depth perception was thrown off by his eye being swollen shut. He found it difficult to even do every day simple tasks such as walk around the house without bumping into everything and knocking things down. It was not only physically draining but emotionally draining as well.

When he finally returned to work, eye still swollen shut and occasionally draining blood onto his shirt,
They fired him. For "gross misconduct" What else was he to do? Let the man go and hope that he didn't assault him any further or even go on to hurt others in the store? My Husband stopped a robbery and protected countless other lives, and he lost his job, right before Thanksgiving and Christmas.

FOX31 did a story about my husband that has been getting a lot of attention on social media, countless people asking "Where is this man's go fund me page?" Well, here it is. We are hoping  we can sue Walmart for wrongful termination and ensure that this will not go on in silence!

This happened during the worst possible time. Now with the holidays coming up he still has no job, as this has made it very hard for him to find another job without discrimination from getting terminated for "gross misconduct".

We are living on what little savings we have left but we need your help to get us the justice we deserve.

We found a lawyer that has agreed to help us but it's a big task to take on and they are asking for $5,000

Every cent counts, and even if you do not have the ability to donate we ask that you please share this story with others and spread this as much as possible to get people aware of what is happening.

The link to the full story is below if you would like to watch it. There is also a link at the very top of the page, if neither links are working simply look up "Walmart employee fired for subduing burglary suspect"

Thank you for your support and God Bless.
