Trip to Odyssey of the Mind Worlds!
Donation protected
We are asking for donations to fund our trip to East Lansing, Michigan to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind, World Competition.
Our Odyssey of the Mind team, sponsored by Cornwall Free Public Library is comprised of 7 students from Middlebury Union Middle School. They won first place in their division at the state competition in March. By doing so they earned the right to compete at the World Competition in Lansing Michigan. This will be the first time any of them have been to Worlds and it promises to be an important chapter of their lives. They have worked hard to win at the state level and are excited to show their stuff on the world stage.
Odyssey teaches team work and collaboration through working as a coach guided team to solve a multifaceted problem. The problem is then presented to a panel of judges who evaluate their work on effectiveness, creativity and overall presentation. Our team won out over 9 other teams in their division. At Worlds they will be competing against hundreds of teams from around the globe. While this in an honor, it is also an unexpected financial event that we need help to make happen.
This trip will cost about $750 per student and chaperone/driver. We are still working out all the details. The basic entry, room and board is about $600 per person, so we need about $9,000
We are hoping to raise as much as possible to absorb this sudden financial hit for the families involved. If we end up with extra funds, we will put them towards Odyssey teams in our area.
Thank you for your consideration of our project and your support!
