Guitars for Vets Canada Fundraiser
Donation protected
Guitars for Vets Canada , a volunteer-led program of Veterans Emergency Transition Services Canada (VETS Canada), is based on a simple concept: connecting Veterans and Still-Serving Members of the Canadian Armed Forces/RCMP who suffer with PTSD or other service-related disabilities with a donated guitar and a volunteer guitar instructor. Our mission is to get as many guitars into the hands of wounded Soldiers and Veterans as possible, to encourage the healing process through the power of music. To date, over 400 guitars have been given new homes through our program.
Guitars for Vets Canada runs on donations and volunteers - we are truly a community-driven initiative!
And although the community response to our requests for guitar donations has been amazing, we currently have more students than instruments; leading us to this endeavor!
Our current goal at Guitars for Vets Canada is to raise $50,000 to ensure that all Canadian Soldiers and Veterans with PTSD/a service-related injury have the chance to explore healing through music; one of the oldest coping skills in the world. Please consider donating to our cause.
“My guitar saved my life because the more I played, the more all the noise in my head went away; it was life changing. I still suffer with PTSD and always will, but playing has helped me handle it better. Music can set the soul free.”
– Jim Lowther CD, President/ CEO/ Founder of VETS Canada
*Do you have a guitar hanging around you house that you would like to donate to Guitars for Vets Canada? Let us know here! Additionally, if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering as a guitar instructor, let us know that too!
