Help Gehrig beat Spinal Stenosis

Gehrig Taylor (named after the NY Yankees great Lou Gehrig) is a 17 year old pitcher/baseball prospect in Bakersfield, CA who just days before a tryout with a major league organization flying out to see him ( Gehrig throws over 90 miles per hour), was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, a painful condition of the narrowing of the spinal column that could lead to paralysis if not treated. He has been told he would never be able to play the game he loves again without surgery Medi-cal will not cover. Unable to sit in school desk chairs due to back pain, Gehrig will finish high school home schooled. Treatment currently involves extensive physical therapy and steroid injections into the spinal column and back. Surgery is an expensive option to help Gehrig live a more pain-free life and relieve pressure from the spinal cord with a chance of eventually playing and still trying out for MLB which is currently a fading dream if immdiate action is not taken. With his future now uncertain he has much to give to the game as a coach and umpire for local youth baseball leagues as long as he can manage the pain that comes with his diagnosis and gets this surgery to help avoid paralysis. This Go Fund Me page has a goal to raise $75,000 for Gehrig's much needed surgery, which is not covered by the family's insurance. If you have been out to the Bakersfield Southwest Baseball fields in the last 10 years either you have watched this talented kid or he has probably umpired your kids game. Gehrig is always one to stop and help a child struggling during a game or help umpire an extra game if short handed.
