Help Julia Partner With Jamaica

My name is Julia Gorman and I am a senior at Boise State University studying Special and Elementary Education. I have years of experience working in schools with students that are living in poverty, English language learners, and/or refugees. Due to these experiences, I’ve developed a deep love and passion for working with those living in poverty, as well as those from third world and developing countries.
I’ve been selected to go on an Alternative Break through Boise State University’s Student Involvement and Leadership Center. Alternative Breaks are something students apply for. They give college students the chance to give back to a community (either locally, nationally, or internationally) during our spring break (March 24 - April 1, 2018).
The break I applied and was selected for is called Partnership Jamaica. Partnership Jamaica offers a total immersion of self into another culture. It’s an intensive service experience for those of us who want to make a positive difference in the lives of others, build a better community, and improve international relations. During this trip, we will build and reconstruct parts of schools to provide young people with a safe, educational environment in which they can learn and receive nourishment in a healthy and positive way.
Not only do I take courses as a full time student, but I am also in the middle of my student-teaching year. This leaves much less time for me to work like I have done my previous three years of college. The cost of this trip is $1800. This covers all transportation, food, housing, etc. for the trip. Please consider donating to this once in a lifetime service opportunity. Any donations, prayers, or any other form of support is so greatly appreciated.
