Please help Maya live!

My beautiful 10-year-old Chow, Maya, was recently diagnosed with oral Melanoma. It is on her tongue and is inoperable. There is hope for her but it is expensive and I have been out of work for over two years after my department closed, and have only found part time work so far with an animal rescue group. Maya is family to me and I am desperate to help her live, and have quality of life.
In these past few weeks she stopped eating, or ate very little, seemed more down and extra clingy and the bounce was definitely gone from her step. I thought perhaps she had a toothache or abscess, which made it painful for her to eat. It was shocking to find out that my sweet girl had cancer instead!
Her story:
Abandoned at under a year old in the foothills of Altadena CA., Maya came to be part of my home and family finally after 3 months of following and feeding her. She’d been dumped in the area and every day she would walk a circle of three streets hoping to be picked back up and every night she’d sleep in a different yard and cry.
When we rescued Maya and she finally came home to me and I had won her trust, the love and loyalty this shy baby offered was abundant and amazing. She got along with my own dogs and cats and whichever dog I was fostering at the time. She was calm and kind to all the animals; even a visiting tortoise, and two baby hawks that fell from their nest.
Maya could sound and look fierce when protecting me or our home but in reality she has always been a total marshmallow inside and a love bug to boot! Even to gentling grooming my 23 year old “tortie” cat when she lived.
Maya absolutely loves walks and rides in the car, and adores visits from her “Grandma” and “Uncle Bruce”; who always brings treats and scratches behind her ears and the ruff of her neck.
She is sweet, sensitive and super aware of your feelings.
I honestly don’t know what I would do without her; she is my rock, my protector and my girl.
Maya lives with two rescued canine brothers; one recently diagnosed with diabetes, two rescued felines, and me; her human Mom.
The Treatment plan:
The plan includes approximate treatment costs for Maya to receive (4) doses of the Canine Melanoma Vaccine; administered every two weeks for 4 treatments and a booster vaccine after 6 months, as well as Palliative Radiation. Maya’s radiation therapy includes 6 total treatments scheduled twice weekly for three weeks with at least one day between treatments. Each treatment requires general anesthesia and may also require some additional pain medication or antibiotics. The results have been excellent in most dogs although never a 100% guarantee.
The Costs: $7,500.00
The Oncologist:
