UPDATE: We were praying that a second nurse would help ease the burden on my mother. Unfortunately, I could no longer tolerate the first nurse's increasing verbal abuse... documented at Reynoldsburger.com. The evil quit with only two days notice, and I didn't complain. (To officially complain would endanger our current nursing coverage.)
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
Please consider helping my mother retire. Both of our bodies are slowly giving out. By the way, she doesn't know that I'm making this request. Please donate anonymously and keep this to yourself. This goes directly to her account... not mine. (One person can give $19,000 per year, per person; unreported under “gift exempt tax.”)
After watching my videos at www.Burtyk.com, you may understand why I beseech the Lord and you with this desperate request.
"Many lose their peace of soul on earth and their soul for eternity, not just because of the evil they have done, but also because of the good that they have left undone." – Archbishop Fulton Sheen
On September 1, 1985, my life as a former Central Catholic League (CCL) wrestler at Bishop Hartley High School was altered forever by a car accident. I had plans for a future in Officer Candidate School, but I was left a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic.
However, my mother, Judy, would not let me fade away. She stood by me and assisted me in earning an architectural degree – graduating Magna Laude – from Columbus State. There were many who doubted that my goal could be achieved, but the seemingly-impossible endeavor was completed.
When my stamina decreased substantially, I used my education and experience to help other disabled citizens acquire whole-house generators to secure their health during natural disasters. See: www.kevin67.net
My life – with some new critical changes – has me praying that my mother receives much-needed assistance. (She has become an octogenarian while caring for my specialized needs for over 39 years.) I believe I have a few more years to contribute something... even if it's just a sentinel of prayer.
Sadly, government lockdowns, cuts and new unrealistic regulations have decimated our health care workers and system… causing a dire shortage of nurses.
Because of my life-support system, Medicaid will only fund LPNs and RNs… even though my mother, a Home Health Aide, trains all of them.
“Mother Teresa teaches us that Calcutta is everywhere in the sense that we all have people in our lives who are lonely, who are desperate, who need others.” Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly quoted her in his “Leave No Neighbor Behind” article.
In the May 2022 issue of Knightline, it discusses, “Support for People With Special Needs,” and how, “The Knights of Columbus seeks to aid the most vulnerable wherever there is a need.” Accessing life-saving resources and prolonging life are always emphasized as they relate to the “pro-life” movement.
As part of a Marine Corps Family, we frown on being described as “vulnerable,” but this would be the correct term for us now. My body is beginning to break down and – among her other ailments – my mother is putting off total knee replacement surgery. She literally hums through the day in pain, so she needed to step down as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” – Matthew 25:40
