Help Create Our Miracle Baby (IVF)

Hi, I'm Sheri, and that sexy bald beast is my husband, Tony.  For those of you who don't know us, we welcome you to our little circle and are truly blessed that you are reading this. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Our story is one that is unusual even by todays standards, but one that we wouldn't change for the world.  A story with more twists and turns and arcs than even your superstar blockbuster.  

I met my darling husband at my sisters wedding, and immediately we fell in "something" that would blossom into true love.

In just one month and one day, we made the crazy decision to go to Vegas during the middle of the night and get married.  Surprise, is one way to describe the reaction that we received from our family  and friends.  Utter shock and overarching doubt is more like it.  Nobody thought it would last more than a short time before the novelty wore off and we would just chalk it up to a "crazy" time in our lives.

But, alas, that is not how soul-mates role.  We both knew that we made a sacred vow before God that we would love and cherish one another, until death do us part (I'm betting it goes on long after death :D ), and we have taken our vows seriously.

The Lord however truly works in mysterious ways.  For the past 6 years we have been through trials and tribulations that would test and strengthen our bond, deepening our love and truly allowing us to reach the state of two bodies coming together as one person.  We have lived the highest of highs, and fought our way through the lowest of lows, economically, emotionally, and spiritually, yet through it all, and by the Grace of God we have endured and became stronger in our relationship and our faith.

During these amazing and interesting times, we have always known that bringing a beautiful new soul into this world would be the most amazing gift that we could receive and even further enhance not just our lives, but their life.  

While we are blessed with the most amazing nieces and nephews, whom we adore and cherish (all 9 of them - yes our family is truly blessed as well), having our own would make our journey even more meaningful and complete.

Those mysterious ways of the Lord are sometimes difficult to understand, but I am beginning to think I can glean an infinitesimally small part of the will of God for our plan.  It is because of these 6 years without child, that we have been able to grow into the strong and beautiful relationship that we have today, setting the foundation for a lifetime, where we know that we can overcome and weather any storm that may come.

Although trying for more than 5 years to conceive on our own, we have been thus far unable.  About 18 months ago, we finally decided that we should see a specialist about the matter to determine if there was an issue.  Indeed, and actually quite refreshingly, we did learn that there was a simple yet easy to fix problem that was obstructing our path to growing our family.

The issue although devastating to us is easily, at least scientifically, to overcome through IVF-ICSI.  Immediately we began to investigate and research this easy solution, and were stopped in our tracks when we learned that the process although simple is extremely expensive, close to $20,000 for a single attempt.

Not being deterred, we have been saving and working to reach this goal as quickly as possible, but it is a painfully slow process.  Yet, we continue to have faith and continue to work towards this goal.

And then, as by some sort of miraculous intervention, a new path was unveiled to me during my constant and never-ending quest for research and comfort online that makes the path much easier and much faster. 

I have recently learned of, and been accepted to a prestigious fertility clinic performing a study of the differences in efficacy between the two competing traditional methodologies IVF and Mini-IVF.  The primary difference being the quantity of fertility drugs required (all standard drugs that are currently being used).  In exchange for participation the clinic covers all of the costs of the procedure and other associated costs, with the exception of the medication and pre-screening tests.

This is truly a blessing, allowing us to achieve our dream of holding our own beautiful baby in our arms.  There is only one more obstacle to overcome, you see, we live in California and the clinic is in New York.  Unfortunately, the cost of the medications, the tests and the travel costs still put this just out of reach for us.

Our goal to make this miracle happen is December of this year.  I realize it is coming upon us quickly, and that it is a tough time of the year for many of us.  But unfortunately, this opportunity is not available for a very long time.  Thankfully, my ovulation cycle makes this the best time for both the clinic and for us.  So truly, with your help there really can be "A Miracle On 34th Street" this year.

We are asking you today, to be part of our journey, be part of the miracle of not just our lives, but a brand new life.  Although, this is a less than traditional way of doing this, we are asking that if you find it in your heart, to please contribute anything that you can to help us and become part of this journey with us.
