Jackson Ward Community Garden
Donation protected
Historic Jackson Ward wants a Community Garden but we need your help!
In other places around Richmond you can find community gardens, many of which sit on city property that has been set aside specifically for gardening. Unfortunately, when you get to The Ward no such amenities can be found.
This has led me to locate private property that is suitable for a garden, but of course at a cost. After lots of research I located 620 Chamberlyn Pkwy. An 8,000 square foot undeveloped property sitting not only on a main gateway road into the ward but also seconds away from several historic sights.
The Goal
Raise $2700! $2200 to secure a two year lease with the opportunity to purchase once the two years is complete. Plus another 500 for supplies and promotional material(flyers, posters, on-site signage).
From Grass to Garden
In addition to just under 100 volunteers waiting for the green light to help begin this project. I have linked up with a local non profit and a renown seasoned Urban Gardener to assist in the development.

About Me
Hi! I'm Jourdan James and have been a resident of Jackson Ward for just over 3 years. In 2013 I moved to The Ward and found a community full of history, personality, and amazing residents. This project is my way of giving back. I believe it is our responsibility to not only give back to the communities we live in, but also improve them.
