Jacqueline Lew's Wrestling Fund

In mid April, I placed first at both the Juvenile National Wrestling Championships and also the United World Wrestling Cadet Trials, which landed me a spot on the national team in the 49 kgs weight class. This is my second year that I earned a position on the National Team. This July, I will be representing our country at the Cadet Pan American Championships, in Lima, Peru, an estimated cost of $2,050. I will then fly to Toronto for further training with our national coaches and to compete at the Ontario Cup too. Similar to last year, I intend on qualifying to represent our country in September 2016 at the Cadet World Championships, in Tbilisi, Georgia, self funded, estimated cost of $4,600.

In addition to the tournaments, I also seek every training opportunity possible. Last December, as a part of Team BC, I participated in a training camp and dual meet with the American team held here in North Vancouver. In the past, I have trained with the U.S. National Development Team in Arizona, Washington, and at the Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs. In December 2014, I was with the Simon Fraser University's Women's team in Oregon, as part of a dual camp. I was also in Calgary as a part of Team BC in a dual camp against Team Sweden and Team USA.

Currently, I train with the Coast Wrestling Club with my main coach, Frank Mensah, who will also be in Peru as part of the Cadet Pan Am Coaching Team. A huge shoutout to my many coaches, Omid Farahani, Gregory Brock, Garfield Gairy, Mitch Dodd, Marc Magano, Jessica Tang, Safi Sharar, Bill Adair and Shelley Adair.

When I am not training with Coast, I am on the wrestling mat at Simon Fraser University seeking the support of both Provincial High School Development coaches, John Pineda and Kate Walker, and also SFU's head coaches, Dave McKay and Mike Jones.

With your support, I hope to get one step closer to achieving my Olympic dreams.  This fund is created to help fund the Pan Ams and any future wrestling camps/tournaments.
