Japanese Animal Rescue
Donation protected
I am Kerry Anne O'Connor, English Representative for Animal Rescue Nyander Guard. I live in Japan and have volunteered with this animal shelter since the March 11, 2011 triple disaster that occurred in East Japan.
Nyander Guard has saved over 1000 animals since the meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. There are still animals trapped in the exclusion zones that need to be saved. Nyander Guard enters these highly radiated zones regularly for feeding runs and rescue missions. The rescued animals are brought back to the shelter where they are vaccinated, dewormed and brought back to healthy conditions. All of the animals are spayed or neutered before being placed in a new home. This takes an enormous amount of time and money. Unfortunately, those that were rescued right after the meltdown are dying. It is our wish that these abandoned pets have some happiness during their remaining lives. Our main goal now is to find forever homes for these senior animals.
However, with no government or corporate funding in Japan, maintaining the shelter and continuing the rescue missions has become more and more difficult. Funds are drying up, volunteers have decreased and media coverage had disappeared. Nyander Guard needs your help to keep the shelter running and continue their relentless work.
Donations will go directly to the shelter via paypal and will be used for veterinary expenses, housing utilities, live-in staff salaries, rescue missions and pet food. Donate today!
Thank you!
