Jenna for Miss Kansas USA 2018!

Hello Everyone!!
Last year I participated in the Miss Kansas USA pageant. At first, this would have been my only opportunity- I was at the top of the age eligibility and would be too old to compete the next year. However, in September of 2016, the Miss Universe Organization changed their age rules. I have another chance to compete!
I pushed myself throughout those 6 1/2 months in ways I never had before. I was disciplined, I was focused. I got out of my comfort zone in many ways, and learned how to be an advocate for myself. The absolute hardest thing for me- and I'm sure other girls as well- is to ask for help and to promote oneself. I've always had this mentality of "who am I that anyone would be interested in what I'm doing?". In trying to strike a balance between humility and pride, too often we discount the real strides we make in our lives. This is something I've been learning to overcome- that being a role model and inspiring others is one of the greatest things you can do with your life! So few people are really willing to put their struggles and their triumphs out there for the world to scrutinize. But I will! Ask me about my failures. I will tell you. Ask me about my great moments- I will tell you! Making my pageant prep public has challenged me to be authentic and honest, and it kept me accountable to my goals. It was truly amazing to see the number of people who believed in me, encouraged me, and supported me throughout those months- and continue to push me to keep going today!
I learned so much at my first pageant. There were things I feel I did well, and others where I know I need to improve. This time around, I will be better prepared- from simple things like having makeup wipes backstage (a big must!) to more complex things, like really owning the stage and having dynamic poses for swimsuit and evening gown. I know what I need to do, and I am going to get there!
I am 6 months out from the pageant as is. I still need to pay my full competition fee ($1000), order gowns, and pay for more personal training. I am really hoping to secure more business sponsors this year than last year- but this first few weeks I will be relying on friends and family.
My first installment for my pageant fees is due in the coming days- $350. The two remaining installments are due in July and August, and are $300 a piece. Your support in this regard would mean the world to me!
Last year my focus was on doing something I never thought I could do- this year my plan is to do it better. I know it might seem silly helping me compete for the second (and final! for real!!) time, but your donation would help me keep pushing towards this dream. Many Queens compete 4 or 5, even 6 times before they ever win the crown. While I don't have the luxury of time on my side, I will put even more energy and spirit into this last, grand attempt. And if I can inspire you, encourage you in the process- well, that is what wearing the crown is all about. :)
