Journeys Academy
Journeys Academy, in Melbourne, Florida, is a non-profit, private school for
students from 1st to 12th grade with special needs. We primarily focus on
students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, and
other related challenges. With a total student population of 30 kids, we are
a very small school with the ability to provide an accredited, structured
curriculum while offering specialized attention and instruction. Preparing
our students for academic success by enabling them to reach their full
potential is our main goal.
Because Journeys Academy is a very small school, we have extremely limited
sources of funding; relying heavily on donations. As we are in the process
of appealing a paperwork technicality to reinstate our major source of
funding, we currently need your help to stay open. All funds raised will go
directly towards the numerous expenses of keeping the school open and viable
for our student population: educational and life skill-building programs,
the facilities' rent, utilities and upkeep.
Our students and their families often view our school as a safe-haven; often
coming to us after becoming disillusioned by the overwhelmed public school
system's inability to provide the specialized services needed for their
child's specific challenges. For some of our students, this school serves as
their only hope. For some of our students' families, they completely depend
on our school's support and guidance to see them through the challenges of
rearing a child with special needs.
We sincerely appreciate any help you can offer during this trying time. A
website has been established to help with our fundraising promotion:
