WE NEED YOU TO HELP US HONOUR JUSTIN'S SPIRIT AND PLEASE DONATE TO BUILD an Immunotherapy FOUNDATION TO ENABLE OTHERS TO MAKE AN EARLY CHOICE AND TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF THE COST. We intend to make this the beginning of a great and large foundation so everyone in Canada can find IMMUNOTHERAPY as the first not the last and too late cancer treatment.
"Wake up Justin , I love you. We are going to Disneyland", a mantra my wife repeated many times into our 5 yr old son's ear as he lay in a coma body emaciated. A few weeks before he said only a few words, "Mommy, I just want to be killed!"
Blood began to gurgle out of his nose and limited throat opening, I dashed for the doctor. Our son, Justin Knight, just passed at age 37 with cancer in his chest, tongue and throat. He fought it with us, Edwin and Tricia Knight, at his side every step for 2 yrs. We refused chemo because they said it would give him 1-3% more chance and after he endured 5 tries to get a vein, we stood thinking, "But this cisplatin is the same thing they gave him at age 5, with his Rhabdomyosarcoma that almost killed him! Haven't they advanced since then!" After 6 weeks of intensive daily radiation our hopes soared but our son's suffering also soared with mouth burns making it impossible to eat while slime kept oozing out of his mouth. 215 lbs down to160 lbs then at Xmas, of all times, he began to eat his Turkey dinner and we could decrease the several pain killers for him. Yet, he died. BUT he didn't have to. Our hopes were shattered when told the radiation did not work and he had a new tumor in his chest. One year to live at best they said, goodbye.
We began valiantly to search desperately for some other remedy. One thing leading to another from marijuana injections, mistletoe injections, heat therapy and Vit C injections in Kelowna to increased therapies at a 19 year old alternate therapy clinic in Fort Langley, exhausting our financial resources and wearing down his 70 yr old parents, let alone Justin. 'But don't worry Justin, we will get you better!' Our new mantra. Then we found the solution. Justin entered hospital in Port Alberni to get him stabilized before starting this new incredible cancer therapy in West Vancouver through Doctor Paul Klimo. Learn this name IMMUNO-THERAPY everyone, google it, and you will find that it is a DNA level cell engineered therapy that is actually taught to attack the cancer cell with a quick high level of success.
Next followed three days of research, efforts to get the drugs needed, paperwork, decision making, and tracking down the doctors to line up infusion sessions and follow ups but all of this delay contributed to our son's death. We did not find out about this life giving new technology until too late. The Cancer Agency did not tell us, the other clinics did not tell us, but our GP, Doctor Kerry DeWitt, strongly urged us to look for a site in Belgium. It tests all the options to kill cancer at a cost of $9000.
But we had to admit him to hospital to get him stable, he was suffering from delirium and acute muscle weakness that just came on in the last week partly as a result of oral chemo therapy. Weight now $135 lbs. Why you ask did he have chemotherapy if it wasn't going to work? Because- we found that the test done out of Europe by some labs, remember the $9000 one, tested most drugs and other substances and trials on the patient's cancer biopsy and /or blood sample. NOW DOESN'T THAT MAKE SENSE AS A FIRST STEP! This one certain oral chemo drug, Tremodal, and immunotherapy with IMMUNOTHERAPY showing a 60% success rate!!!! The chemo drug was suggested by Dr. Klimo first because it was easier and cheaper. But it was all too late! "Don't worry Justin we will get you better!" “To little to late”, said Dr. Paul Klimo, later on review.
Now here is the problem and the reason for this funding & foundation. The cost of this therapy is $8,000-$12,000/month for 6 cycles (12 weeks) to determine some success! Then our research showed that the process would likely be a good year for treatment if not much longer. As you can imagine, this would mean selling the house and everything else and continuing to work until my own demise to raise $100,000 / yr. The morning of his death, Tricia said, “Don’t give up Justin” and he yelled back, “I’m not!” I left him hearing him say, "I love you too daddy" not "I just want to be killed." and I was resolved more than ever to work to my own death and sell all to save him. But Justin saved us from that. He died at 5:30 pm that very day in our presence as we watched the WCGH excellent hospital staff taking turns trying to resuscitate him for 30 min. A few days before this promising therapy was to be administered, Justin saved our bank account and thought, we at 70 yrs had done enough and passed from this earth.
AND AT AGE 5 DID HE HEAR US IN HIS COMA? First words after 3 days were, "I love you mommy and are we going to Disneyland?" We took him there against doctors' orders, a bag of bones in my arms and we saw his first smiles and laughs not seen for a long time. We gave him 32 more years of care and happy experiences! He gave us 32 years of smiles and laughs. I will always here the echo, "I love you too daddy." but we couldn’t save him. “Too little, too late.”
I NEED YOU TO HELP US HONOUR JUSTIN'S SPIRIT AND DONATE PLEASE TO BUILD THIS FOUNDATION TO ASSIST OTHERS TO MAKE AN EARLY CHOOSE AND TO REDUCE THE BURDEN OF THE COST. Justin always said he wanted to help others having cancer when he got well. We need to carry that forward. We intend to use this money to seed a new foundation and hire a funding chairman, advertise and put a board in place. Only you can make this the beginning of a great and large foundation so everyone in Canada can find this as the first not the last and too late cancer treatment. NO THE GOV'T CAN'T FUND IT! IMAGINE THE TAX BURDEN.
