Metal Valor: Forging Paths for Veterans & Homeless

Hi, I'm Howard Crampton, Jr. Between 2010 and 2014, I dedicated my efforts to assisting homeless veterans grappling with PTSD at a shelter in North Hollywood, CA. This eye-opening experience not only introduced me to the resilience and struggles of these individuals but also to the broader challenges faced by both military and non-military homeless populations. My time there was transformative, witnessing firsthand the incredible progress participants made in overcoming personal hurdles, from legal issues to lifestyle changes, all while rediscovering their aspirations.
This journey also offered me a deeper understanding of the complexities within our public and governmental support frameworks. It's clear that while the intention to help exists, systemic issues and a collective inertia—what I've come to think of as society's "Sleepy Hollow Syndrome"—often hinder our effectiveness. These insights propelled me into further research and eventually led me to pursue a Master's in Psychology, where I delved into the phenomena of Secondary and Vicarious Trauma affecting those who dedicate their lives to helping others.
The culmination of these experiences is the foundation of Kelton Care Collective. Our mission is ambitious: to offer comprehensive support to U.S. military veterans, the homeless, and other vulnerable groups. We're committed to providing access to career and skilled labor opportunities, educational resources, and fostering strong mental health practices through collaborative empowerment. Our vision extends beyond immediate aid, aiming to contribute to the overall health and prosperity of our communities on both a local and global scale.
As we embark on this journey, our immediate goal is modest yet vital. We're seeking $1,000 in donations to cover initial nonprofit setup costs and to create engaging content for our social media platforms. This initial support is crucial for laying the groundwork of what we believe will be a transformative force in the lives of many.
Your contribution, no matter the size, is not just a donation—it's an investment in the potential of individuals and the strength of our community. Together, we can make a profound difference. Join us in taking these first, crucial steps toward a brighter future for all.
