Kidney transplant funds

My dad has battled diabetes since he was 21 & I don't use the term 'battled' lightly. It has been a rough road to say the least, but it has also been such an amazing learning experience. Let me start with the point in my life where I realized diabetes is such a serious issue.
In November of 2005 my dad had a stroke. At this point his health was plummeting at what I thought was full speed. His level of kidney function was just below 50%. He moved my senior year of high school to live with my grandparents to help regain control of his diabetes. I was terrified, and most days I wondered how long I'd have with him. Thankfully it helped tremendously so let's fast forward to now!
My dad's level of kidney function is now at 15%. He is in need of a kidney transplant, which is terrifying in itself. PLOT TWIST- I'M DONATING MY KIDNEY TO HIM! I have gone through all the tests, tissue matching, etc...and I am a direct match. This is so incredibly rare but it's so incredibly fantastic! If you know either of us, then you already know we are both extremely hard headed. Help, what's that?! Let's be realistic now- neither of us are going to be able to do this without help & undying support. The surgery date is TBA (I will know more after the 24th of this month) but here is what I do know:
My recovery time alone is 6-8 weeks. My surgery is paid for, but any missed work is not accounted for. My dad's recovery time will be much longer...truly a lifetime. He will be on an assortment of new medications and treatments. After surgery, he will have to travel to Ann Arbor a minimum of two times a week. (Eventually it will lessen) They have even recommended that he look into renting an apartment in the Ann Arbor area to help travel less. Crazy right?! That's why I am swallowing my pride and reaching out to YOU! My dad has absolutely no idea that I am creating this & not to mention other fundraisers to help him (& yes, myself a little.) I can speak for him when I say this- We appreciate any donation, any kind words, warm thoughts, any acts of kindness during this time in our lives. Please know I picked a very high amount & in no world do I think we would ever reach that. I have always been told to dream big and aim high, and that's just what I will do!
This is a journey that I NEVER once thought either of us would be going through, but am glad that we get to go through it together! Please walk this journey with us and follow our story! We love you all!
P.S.
Dad,
I love you. Don't be upset but I am just trying to make this process a lot less stressful!
