Neuter/Spay Stray Cats & Their Care
Donation protected
We live in the country and are surrounded by good old fashioned midwest farms and forests. It all started with two stray cats that found their way to our property. Of course, we care about all animals that find their way here, and we started feeding and providing shelter for these strays. Over time, they have multiplied (go figure).
We have found forever homes for 14 of the stray cats that we have cared for over the years, and we are grateful for the kind people who have taken these stray friendly felines into their homes. But, because we care about these remaining strays, and because we continue to care for them by providing food, water, and safe shelter from all the natural preditors they encounter, we continue to have more and more cats. They KNOW they are safe on our property, they know they will have food and shelter, and loving care.
We are currently caring for 19 stray cats and kittens, two of the cats are currently pregnant and will be having litters later this month. We buy food for these cats and have built more shelters to house all of them. In addition to the cost of food for these cats, we also spend countless hours with these cats and kittens to get them used to people. We WANT them to be pets for someone and we work hard at "taming" them so they are not ferral. We just want them all to have a loving forever home! They deserve that.
The low-cost spay and neutering programs are only for low-income families - therefore, we cannot take advantage of those programs. To have each of these stray cats spayed or neutured through our local vetranary clinic would cost $260 - $280 each (depending on male or female). These costs include protective shots that are required by our local vetranary clinic.
We are currently spending $150+ each month on cat food for these strays. We have also spent many dollars on building comfortable and safe shelters for the strays.
Any funds raised via our Go Fund Me page will be used to:
1. Pay to have the strays spayed or neutered
2. Pay to continue feeding the strays
3. Continue to pay to keep the strays safe from preditors by providing warm, safe shelters
Time is of the essence.
- We currently have two pregnant cats that will have kittens soon - meaning even more cats to care for.
- Two of the strays have recently had kittens, and those kittens need care.
We care about these stray cats. We really do. We have spent so much time and money on them, and will continue to do so. The people we have found to "adopt" the strays so far have been fabulous! These cats are just so loving and can provide so much joy to forever INDOOR homes!
We aren't asking for much. We would appreciate help to continue to care for the strays we already care for. Your contribution will help pay for their spay or neutering to prevent even more stray cats. Your contribution will help pay for food to provide for the strays we continue to care for. And.... your contribution will help make you achieve Crazy Cat Lady or Man status and you will sleep better knowing you have made a HUGE difference in supporting these beautiful creatures who need our loving care. We will be forever grateful for any and all support!
Thank you for your consideration.
P.S. So you can see the math - 19 cats at $280 for spay or neutering = $5,320. Add $150-200 per month for food and we are at around $5,520. With more kittens on the way this month, we could be looking at another $2,800 to have them spayed or neutered, plus at least another $150-200 a month for food. The amount we are hoping to raise is only a portion of the actual costs. Of course, the longer the cats/kittens stay on our property, the more food expense there is. Let's hope we can find forever homes for all of them as quickly as possible!
