My granddaughter Kya Bach has cancer. Kya is now 2 years old her journey began November 2014.
My daughter and son-in-law Jenny & Jeremy Bach along with their children Kya & Colton who is 5 years old have been blessed with amazing support during this past year.
Your gift will help this family with their expenses and give them the gift of hope from members of our community.
Kya has been in surgery 3 times. She will go back in for surgery (high risk) on January 4, 2015 to remove a cyst in the spinal cord, it's on the tumor and it is causing problems. Kya is having problems, sleeping, sitting, and is becoming wobbly when walking.
Her tumor is rare for children her age, rare for the doc's, rare for the location it's in (glionewronal ganglioglion). It's just plain scary as hell!
Kya began with what the doctors thought was Scoliosis
. Mom and Dad (Jenny & Jeremy Bach) had noticed that while crawling Kya wouldn't tilt her head up, they found her spine was starting to curve. When diagnosed with Scoliosis her pediatric orthopedic specialist wanted to know why or what was causing the curvature in the spine. So Kya was scheduled for an MRI. The results would be devastating for all. My daughter was at the store when the call came and they informed her that Kya did have a tumor in her spinal cord and it would be best if they brought Kya right into the hospital for testing. I have thanked the lord for her orthopedic doctor, if he didn't question the why..............
Kya was in the hospital for Thanksgiving in 2014 recovering from an 8 hour sugery with one of Strong's best Neurosurgeons. Dr. Silberstein succeed in removing 60% of the tumor from her spinal cord, the remaining tumor was too tangled up with the nerves to be removed. It is a large tumor Kya's incision
is from the base of her neck to the bottom of her back.
Kya would have 3 surgeries before Chemo would start in March 2015 for 60 weeks, over 1 YEAR OF CHEMO TREATMENTS FOR THIS BABY <3
They have had many trips to the Emergency Room with fevers, a few visits in the hospital because of high fevers.
The tumor has not grown since chemo began. I wish it would shrink a little just to give a sign we are on the right track.
Kya has been a trooper through all of this, she is one amazing little girl. She is a fighter no doubt about that. And Colton is her rock he's always waiting for her to get home so they can play and get into mischief as little ones do.
My family is my heart...........I would give anything if I could take this all away. But so far it hasn't worked I've tried!
For every hour of work missed for either Mom or Dad while caring for Kya just adds to the stress, I'd like relieve some of this stress, let them enjoy the holidays and do what they need to do come January 4th and beyond…………………….the journey continues
We wish you all a healthy & happy holiday god bless!
