What is The Los Angeles Legacy Project?
The Los Angeles Legacy Project is a program dedicated to creating a pathway to success for our upcoming generation. We use media in general, and journalism in particular to ENHANCE education.
We have partnered with THE LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT’s 93rd Street Elementary School & DIEGO RIVERA LEARNING COMPLEX's Communication And Technology School (CATS) to develop a program that will engage and enhance the educational experience for inner city kids. Students have a "hands on" media production experience.
How does the program help?
LALP prepares students for an increasingly changing digital and information driven world. It is research and writing intensive, requiring the students to engage and navigate the vast resources of the Internet in order to bring out information and create entertaining and educational content. We focus on COMMUNICATION, READING, WRITING, ORAL and RESEARCH skills. Students have shown marked improvements in all of the above areas in the first three weeks of our pilot program. Their improvements continue to climb and they recognize the benefits of this program.

What are these funds for?
We have begun a program that changes the way children learn and prepare them to be productive contributing citizens in our society. One classroom is not enough. We need your financial support to enhance this program, and spread it to other schools in the Los Angeles area, then eventually, across the country. Your funds will help cover:
Equipment
Camera
Sound equipment
Lights
Editing
Software
Administrative Expenses
Staffing
Insurance
