From Drew and Katie LaCroix:
We found out today (12/2) that Leah's cancer has just grown out of control, it's grown to a point where there are no more options. Our amazing doctors have done everything they can do. They have collaborated with other institutions around the country and the hard truth is we are at the end of the road when it comes to treatment. We took Leah home today. We are going to give a mild chemo in hopes of extending our time with her - a couple of months at best.
Although we are extremely sad and scared we know that we will not let cancer take everything from us. We will not let it ruin our last moments with Leah - these final days at home will be happy days. We will not let it ruin ourselves, our marriage or the happy home that Julia will grow up in. We also remain extremely grateful for our family, friends, community and Beaumont caregivers for all that everyone has done for us. You have all made this battle manageable and for that we are forever grateful.
So, from here we plan to take Leah on a wish trip to go party with her favorite princess at Disney, enjoy our holiday and make everyday we have left with her count. Thank you all for your continued support.

Here's the hard truth: Leah has relapsed.
This means that for the second time in two years, Leah and her parents will be hospital bound as they fight Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML) once again.
Your support was crucial last time - and it will be even more impactful this time considering that in addition to fighting cancer again, the LaCroix family is preparing to welcome their second child into the world later this fall (Katie is currently 33 weeks pregnant).
This year's fight is going to be different. Chemo treatments are going to be more intense. Additionally, there will be a bone marrow transplant and other treatments that Leah was able to avoid the first time around. Not to mention the fact that as a smart and verbose two-year-old, Leah is already asking tough questions about what is going on.
Katie and Drew are both public school teachers, and they have received outstanding support from their respective districts throughout this process. But unfortunately, Katie will once again be on unpaid leave for this upcoming school year, creating a significant financial burden for the LaCroix family.
This community was amazing in its generosity last year, raising thousands of dollars to help Leah and her parents as they fought through this ordeal. Your help meant so much to Katie and Drew - it truly was a difference maker.
That's what makes it all the more difficult to ask for your support once again. But the truth is, we cannot do it without you.
As the family is anticipating an increase in medical bills, travel expenses (the bone marrow transplant will be in Ann Arbor) and associated living expenses, we have set a goal of raising $50,000 that will help them get through this difficult time.
So from the bottom of our hearts,
Thank You.
