Let's get Makai a wheelchair!

Donation protected
On Wednesday night, January 16, 2019, while doing a front flip on a trampoline, Makai landed on his head, severing his spinal cord and breaking his neck. Unable to move, he was transported by ambulance to Fresno Community Hospital.  Makai was told he will likely never walk again, paralyzed from the chest down.

Makai currently attends Alta Sierra Intermediate School in Clovis, California where he proudly competes on the wrestling team.  Makai excels at all things ‘active’.  You never saw Makai without a bike, a scooter, or a skateboard.  On the weekends, with any chance he got, Makai found his way over to his aunt & uncle's house to be with his cousins.  Makai is known as “Kai Kai” by his cousins.  By his aunt and uncle, he has been known to be a dare devil at times! Kai Kai, only 3 years older than his cousin McCarthy, has created a bond that will never be broken.   McCarthy and Makai shared an interest in anything that had a motor.  They grew up, earning money to buy remote control cars.  When hover boards came out, you can bet they both had one!  Together, they have learned to talk anyone with a valid driver’s license, into driving them to Tulare every weekend to ride dirt bikes.   Makai especially loved the time we spent as a family at Bass Lake.  One of his favorite activities at the lake was fishing off the pier.  McCarthy and
Kai Kai have been known to try every bass lure in their tackle box,  in a competition to see who could catch the biggest fish.

After hearing of this tragic accident, McCarthy was crushed.  His challenger, his teammate, and his cousin, was told he could never stand at the pier and fish; he could never race his motorcycle again, and spending the night seemed impossible.

McCarthy wants to raise enough money to buy Kai Kai his first motorized wheelchair so that Makai can get back to doing the things he loves.

Kai Kai was always up for a challenge, and McCarthy wants to set this challenge in honor of his favorite cousin.  McCarthy’s goal is to give
Kai Kai the mobility that every other teenage boy has.

Thank you to all that read this and that are able to donate.
McCarthy would also like to ask for your prayer and hope.

Love,
Kai Kai's cousin, McCarthy
