Little Caolan Treatment Fund
Donation protected
Little Caolan was diagnosed at 10weeks old with Neuroblastoma, that's a rare form of childhood cancer which has an 80% chance of relapse after initial treatment.
Caolan had 18 months intense treatment in Crumlin which was successful, his scans in June 2016 showed up cancer Free, of course the whole family were absolutely delighted.
Caolan was then placed on a trial medication, that was to prevent a relapse, that treatment started in July 2016. Unfortunately treatment here in Ireland for relapse is very limited so it means little Caolan and his Mum and Dad have to travel to the US for treatment at a cost of €20,000 each time.
Unfortunately in September 2016 when he was in America for his next session of trial drug, Caolan took a seizure. After investigation scans showed 3 legions of cancer in his brain which meant brain surgery to remove them.
His operations where successful but unfortunately all funds that were raised through community events and donations were used up. (€170,000+)
Upon his return from the US consultants told the family that little Caolan had another 5 months treatment to undergo in Ireland, this will allow medical staff a chance to source another trial drug in the US as the cancer is unfortunately more aggressive than initially thought.
Caolan is still receiving his 5 months treatment in Ireland, all that in aid of trying to reduce of clear the legions on his brain, he needs to be cancer free before he can start another trial drug, that will be a stronger dose of treatment.
The travel costs and the cost of the treatment itself means the family need to raise a lot more money, the whole community are involved, please do what you can, every cent is greatly appreciated.
