Live the Dream Foundation-An Arts Initiative
F.A.Q
What is the purpose?
The Live the Dream Foundation was founded by the emerging classical tenor Richard Lindsey, as an arts initiative aimed towards retention in all areas of the arts for promising young artist.
Who is qualified?
Students who reside in the United States at least one year prior to the year in which they applied. Graduating high school seniors, college freshman and sophmores are all encouraged to apply.
*Qualified applicants need NOT to be an American citizen.
How is the award classified and what is the amount?
A $5,000-$7,000 encouragement award. This includes a $500 personal stipend to start with.
Who is awarded?
As there is no particular requirement for being an exceptional artist, it must be known that the Live the Dream Foundation Grant will be awarded to the most "qualified" applicant. As funding is sponsored by the public and businesses, it is not guaranteed that there will be enough money to fund more than one applicant in the initial year of funding (2014). Despite this fact, supporters of the Live the Dream Foundation will do everything they can to make up to three awards available (fingers crossed!).
What does this grant support?
The concept of this fund is to help aspiring artists of all genres and styles to have an opportunity to "Live the Dream" in the career they would like to pursue. Despite the widely known fact that people in the arts are often discouraged, there has not been enough attention focused towards supporting the beautiful talent of a young artist and ultimately, improving retention in the arts.
How do you "Live the Dream?"
Taking a gap year in their education, participants will learn the "tricks and trade" of a freelance young artist and get a head-start in making long lasting connections that can help them in launching a career in the future. Like but not limited to: networking, planning, time management, performance and experience. A true testament of resilience, perseverance, dedication and imagination.
Who are we looking for?
Someone whith extraordinary imagination and incredible resilience. Consider this, what seperates an artisit from someone who is merely good at something, is imagination. This is evident in every successful artists' work... No two singers at an artist level will sing the very same song in the same way. In fact, they may not even perform their own rendition the same twice. That is the epitome of a true artist! This is applicable to all genres and styles in the arts. With regards to resilience, simply put, if you don't have it, GET IT FAST! That's gumption! A career in the arts is often challenging, disappointing, lonely, critically judged and the list goes on. One cannot aspire to do anything geat without the thought of great failure. It happens; it does not define you unless you choose to give up. With imagination and resilience, the sky IS the limit, your dreams will become vivid and ultimately fulfilled! THAT is who we want to earn this fund.
When will the fund be available for applying?
Beginning January 1, 2014, the Live the Dream Foundation Grant will be launched on popular scholarship search engines and can be applied for then.
When will the Live the Dream Foundation Grant be awarded?
Applicants who make it to the second and final rounds of review will be notified in the middle of March 2014. Awards will be determined and announced by May 1, 2014 and the funding year will begin on June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015.
Will recipients be required to pay the money back?
No. This is an encouragement award to assist talented artist in the deciding and pursuit of a great career in the arts. With that said, each recipient will be required to promote the fund and find time to seek sponsors to fund future recipients using social media. That famous term, "Pay it forward."
Who gains from this experience?
Everyone who loves the arts and supports this initiative!!! In hope of improving retention in the arts, our mission is to inspire young artist to never give up and to also help them in deciding the arts is where they belong.
Do YOU love the arts? Pay it forward!
Help in making someones dream come true.
