Will Be Euthanized Sunday Morning - Dog With Burns

Donation protected
Luckyman is a stray dog who was found with mysterious injuries all over his body. They look like heat burns or chemical burns. Luckyman is a petite dog currently at ACCT Philly. He is scheduled for euthanasia on Sunday June 4 at 10am unless a rescue organization can commit to his medical care. This fundraiser is organized by volunteers as an incentive to be donated to a nonprofit 501c3 rescue organization that commits to his medical care and saving his life. Here is what the shelter put about him on their website: LUCKYMAN ACCT-A-139148 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Luckyman must have confirmed placement with a FOSTER or RESCUE PARTNER by SUNDAY, JUNE 4th at 10:00 a.m. Should Luckyman's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Luckyman, a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog, was indeed lucky that a kind citizen brought him into the shelter after seeing him roaming the streets, emaciated with open wounds along his sides. On closer examination, the skin issues appeared to be pustules and alopecia, which looked to be caused by infection. Our doctors were able to start Luckyman on treatments for the skin concerns and supportive care to recover from his malnutrition. Unfortunately, as Luckyman was cleaned off and the antibiotics began to clear the initial infection, it became apparent that the skin issues were more serious than a generalized infection. It appears that Luckyman may have suffered some kind of burn, either chemical or heat-however, he should still have further diagnostics to rule out another cause such as an autoimmune disease. Given the need for medically supervised recovery from his malnutrition and neglect, as well as an appropriate and clean environment in which to recover from his burns, Luckyman urgently needs to leave with a rescue group that is able to provide him with care at a full-service veterinary hospital. We have only known Luckyman for three days but he has already shown us what a great boy he is! His finder noted that he was "friendly but scared and really sad, and while we understand why he might be a little down after everything he's been through, he's not letting that stop him from making friends. Luckyman is very sweet and solicits attention; he likes to put his paws up on your leg and lean into you for pets. He's calm and mellow outside, and easy to handle even though he's got painful sores. He can get a little nervous when approached quickly by too many people (such as a large group walking past him in the kennel aisle) but does not stiffen or become reactive-just steps back and watches. Luckyman has had a good dog meet in the shelter as well! He promises to be an easy patient, and with some time and TLC he will thrive in his new home.
