MLK CommUNITY "Change for Change"
Donation protected
The Martin Luther King Jr. CommUNITY of the Greater Kennett Area's "Change for Change" program requests your donation to help feed the hungry in the greater Kennett Square and West Grove PA areas. All funds will be donated to the Kennett Food Cupboard and the West Grove Bridge Food Pantry.
Prior to the onset of the pandemic in March, 2020, the Kennett Food Cupboard offered food to families on a monthly basis and to low-income senior housing residents. The program provided three to six days worth of food to over 1,200 individuals each month. Over 88% of food came directly from the community in the form of community food drives, partnerships with local farmers and grocers, community and family gardens, and individual donations.
Since March, 2020, the food cupboards have been unable to accept food donations as they do not have enough room to safely social distance and process donations at their sites. Cash donations enable the cupboards to provide emergency assistance to families for groceries and other necessities.
The Bridge is a Food Pantry and Clothing Closet located on the property of the Avon Grove Church of the Nazarene. It is housed in a trailer behind the main church building. This program is meant to meet the physical and spiritual needs of individuals who find themselves in a difficult and unexpected circumstance. This compassionate ministry helps meet physical needs, as well as offer a place for emotional and spiritual encouragement much needed in difficult times.
The Martin Luther King Jr. CommUNITY asks that you gather your spare change and bring it to our community partner, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Marlborough Square Shopping Center, 826 E. Baltimore Pike in Kennett Square, 19348 (anchored by Giant Food Store/previously Genuardis), on Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 10 am to 1 pm or donate here anytime.
Many adults and children are hungry in our community. We believe Dr. King's dream that everyone can work together to create a better world. When friends like you partner with us, by providing food for the hungry, we keep the dream alive and help create Dr. King's beloved community.
The Martin Luther King Jr. CommUNITY of Greater Kennett Area is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization. Our tax identification number is 47-2366504.
