Marvel Challenges: Mt. Kilimanjaro

Donation protected
It has always been my dream to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and those who know me well know that I love a challenge!

Firstly I love LIFE! I make the most of every day and I live it fearlessly. I am a proud single mother of two wonderful, successful sons but before I am a mum I'm ME and so I am procrastinating no more and have started on the road to fulfilling a lifelong dream....oh and if I forgot to mention it I'm also registered blind.

Although it doesn't define me, my visual impairment makes me ME and is integral to the way in which I live my life. To those who like technicalities I have a condition called Optic Atrophy which for me essentially means that I am 93% blind....or as I choose to think of it I have 7% vision #POSITIVITY....so I think it's fair to say I see the world in my own unique and MARVELlous way and Mount Kilimanjaro will be no different.

In October 2017 in aid of my own personal dream and in support of the RNIB (the Royal National Institute of Blind People) I will trek for 7 days across the Rongai Route taking me to the summit of Africa's highest mountain. The route will start close to the Kenyan Border in the forest to the North East of Tanzania. One day I may walk in the footsteps of elephants and on another I may see monkeys swinging in the trees.....oh and some mountain climbing will happen in between.

It's an adventure I have long thought about and envisioned and I hope you will sponsor me in achieving it.

About the RNIB  and your donation

I have committed to fundraising a minimum sponsorship amount of £4,700 which will go directly to my chosen charity, RNIB. 82p of every £1 raised goes directly to helping blind and partially sighted children and adults.

Part of your donation will also go towards the cost of getting to Tanzania and participating in the trek itself (i.e flights, transfers, a trek leader, local guides, porters and a Doctor - paid for via RNIB) but this will not exceed 54% of the total minimum sponsorship pledge.

More information about RNIB can be found on their website here: http://www.rnib.org.uk/

The reality of losing your sight is that you don't just lose your sight; you could lose your independence, your income, your ability to get out and about, and the chance to do what you want to do. Your support will help RNIB give people who have lost their sight vital support to help them find their lives again.
