Google Glass for DuPont Manual

Donation protected

I was recently emailed by Google to test and develop on their brand new Google Glass technology, but I need some assistance and I knew exactly what I needed to do.

This has been something that I have been looking forward to for many, many months. This will revolutionize the way we look at technology as a whole and the way we live our daily lives. Instead of seeing everyone with their smartphones, you'll soon see people walking around with Google Glass.

However, I am terribly afraid that this, like many other recent technologies including tablets and smartphones, will pass up the classroom as quick as they will sweep the world. I want to change this. I want duPont Manual to be on the front pages as the first high school to implement QR Codes and Augmented Reality into their curriculum and daily student life. I want our school to be the school of the future, the role model for all schools around us and to proceed us.

I have a dream; a future where school and technology have a symbiotic relationship. Where a classroom assignment might include all of the students taking a quiz on a specially developed tablet, saving hundreds of dollars in papers and in costs to ScanTron.

I'm afraid my generation has been at a disadvantage. Sure, the teachers have had touch screen PC's and we could use laptops every so often, but it's just teasing us with a taste of what the future is to bring. I remember being in fifth grade and being able to first use laptops in the classroom. It felt liberating and fun to explore on the web and research topics to write essays not, not constricting and boring as you would find in having one book to look at for hours on end.

Technology does not only increase the productivity of a classroom but also increases the efficiency of the classroom, if the teacher is given the right materials to control the class if they get out-of-hand.

Right now, I have been given the chance to test this brand new forefront of technology, Google Glass. It is the first technology of it's kind and I am ecstatic that I have been chosen for it. I have already thought of a plethora of ideas to implement this into a classroom and even outside of the classroom for additional learning. There is a large barrier though - the cost of $1,500.

I understand that everyone is on a tight budget, but I know that if we are given the chance to receive a pair of Google Glasses and develop with them and experiment, than duPont Manual will be known regionally, if not nationally. This would be something that decides who will lead education into the technology era and who follows. It is just the nature of duPont Manual to take such a chance and to take the torch and go forth.

I am coming to you to help fund our future. This is our chance to gain the recognition we need to achieve the leadership we strive to attain. I am coming up with $500 of my own money towards this and I need your help. I will be giving you an hour with the Google Glass to do whatever you like for every $10 you donate.

I believe that we can lead the future.

Thank you,
