Maria's Legacy - Left without a Mum

On Friday night we received the call that no one wants to hear, that no one ever thinks they will receive. 

My step brother Ben, his wife Maria and 4 month old son Reuben were in a car accident. Thankfully Reuben appears to be fine, the only one uninjured. Ben is undergoing surgery. Maria didn't make it....

We are all still in shock. 

Ben has lost his wife, Reuben has lost his mother....
I am hoping by sharing this we can raise enough funds to ease the burden of funeral costs and take some of the pressure off Ben and allow him to take the time to process what has happened.  Ben is on a disability pension and who would be prepared for the funeral of a 28 year old?

I cannot believe that this has happened, I cannot imagine how Ben must feel.... lost... bewildered... his whole world turned upside down in an instant. 

How do you care for an infant when recovering yourself?  Ben is currently in ICU and will remain 
 in hospital for a while, we are still waiting for updates on his condition but he has suffered facial fractures and will require crutches due to other injuries.  His father Max will be staying somewhere near the Canberra Hospital (to be organized) for as long as Ben needs to physically recover to help look after Reuben.

It is a blessing that Reuben was unharmed.

Maria was an amazing woman, a loving mother and I am thankful I had the priviledge of knowing her.  It is with great sadness we say goodbye to one of the most beautiful souls.
