Help Maria Live Pain Free! RSD/CRPS

Her name is Maria, she is a sister to 6 siblings, an Auntie to 3 beautiful toddlers and the youngest daughter of Cyril and Melody of Ottawa.


Maria is a fun loving and caring individual who excelled at Irish Dancing until her injury.  She loves school, loves her family and many friends and is not lacking in loving relatives. She has traveled to some of the Seven Wonders of the World, is an accomplished pianist, an outdoorsy type of gal and loves to help with the current renovations going on at home; known as Dad's #1 helper. She is a child of God who is spiritually connected to her Father in Heaven in so many ways.  In October
2014 Maria suffered minor trauma to her foot which later was diagnosed as an acute onset of CRPS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. (Also, known as RSD, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy)

Again in the Fall of 2015 after 10 months in remission Maria suffered excruciating pain for 6 weeks going through physical therapy treatments again trying to reduce the 10+ pain level and cope with decreased mobility.  Her mom sat with her day and night supporting and praying with her because the pain was so severe; narcotics were not an option at the young age of 13.  CRPS is most common in people aged 20-35.


Following extensive research by Melody, they came to find great results in treatment for RSD in the United States.  In November of 2015, Melody and Maria packed up and flew to Los Angeles to stay with Melody's sister and drove a total of two hours daily for treatment in Long Beach. Treatment costs were $300 US per day and Maria required 10 treatments her first time around. This treatment is NOT available in Canada and Cdn. health care nor medical insurance covers any of the cost. Following the 10  successful treatments Maria came home in December 2015 pain free; hoping that RSD would not return.

Maria had a flareup in February of 2016, and immediately she and her Mom rented a car, drove from Ottawa to a Rhode Island medical facility and stayed for a week. Maria received 5 "Calmare Treatments" and traveled back home with zero pain.  Treatment is more effective at the earlier stage of a re-occurrence and once you respond well to the Calmare Treatment, you always will. The greatest news ever is that it's possible for Maria to have a life without pain.  Left untreated CRPS can have negative consequences to the person suffering with it.  It can spread to uneffected limbs and complications can occur unless properly diagonised and treated as soon as possible after the symptoms appear.
As you can well imagine; travel and treatment costs are extremely high and have an immediate financial impact on the family.  However, the treatment results have an amazing impact on 13-year-old Maria and she has experienced being pain-free.

Maria has now had her third flareup, causing an impromptu trip to Los Angeles to again stay with her aunt and go for treatment. This has been the third time in a year that Maria's family has contributed significant funds to her recovery. They need all the support they can get!
