Marian Anderson - Pop Up Pool!

WE DID IT! Thank you so, so much to every single one of you. This is going to be such an amazing experience, and we hope you stop by this summer.

I am leaving the goal at $10,000 and donations above this will go towards programming in response to what the community needs and to extend pool hours. Reach out anytime for an update and report on how these funds are used to support this public rec center.

The Marian Anderson Recreation Center (MARC) in the Graduate Hospital area is a center of its community. It serves children, adults, and families in sports, nutrition, computer coding, CPR, and summer camps, and other programming, and is home to the Anderson Monarchs baseball team.

Inspired by other Pop Up Pools around the city of Philadelphia, the Friends of MARC have embarked on a mission to give the public pool at the rec center a makeover that it deserves. With a beautiful pool, ample lawn space, and an involved staff, there is an opportunity to create a pool club oasis from this wonderful public resource. 

The South of South Neighborhood Association (SOSNA) has pledge $6,000(!) to this project. Please help us make this project reach its full potential by investing with your donation today. We are working on a plan to use every dollar to have a positive impact, and would love to turn as many ideas as possible into a reality.

Every little bit helps, and we look forward to a really bright and fun summer at the Marian Anderson Rec Center pool.

I just wanted to update to say that we have raised the goal to $10,000 and it will cover the following:

$6,000 to fulfill the total budget of materials for the Pop Up Pool.

$4,000 to create a full-time summer pool position for a young local resident. This will be an additional lifeguard position intended to also serve as a Pool Operations Assistant to enforce reasonable rules and help care for and maintain the investments we are making to the pool.

Also, all purchases and projects will be very closely detailed and tracked and an itemized report of expenditures will be created and posted publicly for full transparency at the close of the project!

We are also working on the Thank You Banners that will fly throughout the summer. EVERY donor who made this project happen will be included! However, if you know a local business that would like to be celebrated at any of the following sponsorship levels, let me know!
