The late Michael ( Michilin Larry Una ) originally from Aibhnin, Bealadaingin, Connemara, Co. Galway and Brid O’Malley originally from Clynagh ,Carraroe, Connemara, Co Galway have two children, Petriona 16 and Seosamh 11.
Petriona was born with cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia which is a form of cerebral palsy, it’s the most severe of the three types of spastic cerebral palsy, marked by the inability to use the legs, arms and body, up to October 2017 Petriona was cared for by Michael and Brid in their home in Carraroe, Co. Galway. In 2013 Brid was diagnosed with Breast cancer and was treated successfully but suffers from Lymphedema since the surgery which limits her from caring for Petriona .
In 2016 Michael was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which tragically spread to his lungs and liver a year later. At the end of January2018 he needed to be moved from his home to Galway Hospice in Renmore, where sadly he passed away on 02/08/2018. Ar dheis De go raibh anam dhilis .
As Petriona needs 24/7 care, the unfortunate illness of both her parents meant that it was necessary to move her to the Pediatric Unit at University Hospital, Galway, where she has been since October 2017.
Funds now need to be raised to get Petriona the ongoing care she needs, and also to pay some of the Mc Donaghs many other medical expenses.
Please support this worthy cause. Your help will be very much appreciated.
