Earthquake in Mexico Relief Fund

The Mexico earthquake that occurred on Thursday night recorded an 8.4 magnitude in the town of Juchitan Mexico. This unforeseen event destroyed the homes and community spaces of numerous families.
A month ago this community opened their homes and provided me the warm family welcome they share with those that visit. This is a town known for it's abundance of art, culture, and history. Throughout my time in this hidden gem I found myself with the sole urge of sharing this experience with others like you. Unfortunately after this Thursday's earthquake that rattled Mexico, I now share this town out of necessity and human compassion for its people.
The community was once rich with beautiful art that coated it's buildings. Those majestic pieces of art are now shadows of what they once were in the rubble of what remains. My heart hurts as I see the remains of their city hall where an extensive farmers market hosting locally grown organic foods was hosted. This was a place where all ages gathered to enjoy the cool relief of the night sky while iguanas lounged on the tree branches. The thought that families are now living in camping tents outside of their beautiful homes where they once housed me motivates me to share with you the situation.
You don’t know these people odds are you’ve never heard of this town or stepped in Oaxaca soil, but in this short existence we call life they are our sisters and brothers. Today I share my memories of this place with you, in October I will share my, on the ground support, and today I ask you join me in financially supporting this communities path to recovery and reconstruction.
Our planet continues to be riddled with natural disasters; this is the reality we live in. Another reality is the nature of people like you, supporting the family you have yet to meet.
“If you help fund this relief effort I will personally help you plan your future visit to Oaxaca Mexico and introduce you to the beautiful people that make up this magical land. We are Juchitan.
