Miami Overtown Track & Field

Donation protected
The Miami Overtown Tornadoes Track & Field team will like to participate in the Championship Track Meet Houston, Texas in August 2016. Our track & field program was put together to keep children off the streets. The program utilizes the sport of track & field to cultivate the attention of juveniles between the ages of 4 thru 18. The program includes education, gang resistance, culinary, etiquettes, and anti violence colloquiums. The program consists of children that live in the Overtown community, a community that is rich in valuable history; however, the community is currently being challenged with street violence and drugs dealers & users. These are the challenges that enhance the importance of children participating in this program, keeping them off the streets. The program consisted of a roster with over 117 children from the community and has been operating under Miami Tornadoes Inc., a non-profit 5013c organization. Unfortunately, 95% of the youth participants in this program are completely financially challenged and are living below the poverty level; therefore, we are currency seeking monetary donations to keep the program running. We are lacking funding for uniforms, track equipment, track meets, running shoes, food, water/Gatorade  and out of town competition trips, approximately a $30,000 ($300 per child) yearly program. Please keep in mind, because the children in this program are living below poverty level, there are no fees collected and the program is strictly ran under donations.
