Morogoro Hospital Equipment
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Lily Toto and I recently spent 3 weeks shadowing a doctor in a hospital in Morogoro, Tanzania with a program called Gap Medics, witnessing surgeries, births, and autopsies. Morogoro Regional Hospital is extremely underfunded and lacks some of the most basic equipment.
Needles and gloves were reused, electricity went out during operations, honey was poured into the incision of a Cesarean-section as an antiseptic, the freezers in the morgue were broken, and many people died of injuries and diseases that could easily have been treated in a better equipped hospital.
That’s why I’m raising money to purchase essential medical equipment including a nebulizer machine and an oxygen concentrator, as well as supplies such as syringes and stretchers. The money raised will go directly to purchasing and shipping the equipment. Any donation, no matter what size, will make a difference and save lives.
Please consider donating, and please share this to raise awareness! Thank you all so much!
Here are some pictures I took while working at the hospital:
